Q. Can Backing Tracks be Customized? Is
it also possible to speed up a track and or
slightly adjust the key of the track one
semitone or so?
A. Yes - it is possible to alter backing
tracks in various ways but any changes would
be subject to nominal fees - usually 2 - 2.5
x the normal price. Key change requests
should ideally be only + / - 2 semitones.
Likewise - tempo changes should ideally be +
/ - 5 - 7 BPM
Q.
Are the files supplied as per the arrangement used by
the original artist?
A.
All songs are in their original key signatures using as
true to recorded instrumentation as is possible to
attain using GM/GS or XG.

Q.
Why are
the demo files out of time with the metronome on my sequencer?
A.
This is done to prevent downloaders
(or shall we say - freeloaders) from
reconstructing a complete song out of what is supplied
in our demos.
Some songs - especially the later
titles - are so modular in their
arrangement that it is easy to build the whole song from
just a couple of sections of a demo
but rest
assured that when you order song files from our
production library - they are
not click disabled and may be edited in all respects by
the user if required. This does not
in any way change the
copyright
status of the original file.
top
Q.
Is the full and complete instrumentation of an
arrangement included?
A.
Files are supplied complete i.e. as per the original
recording wherever possible.
top
Q.
Are there any polyphony limitations (number of voices
used)?
A.
We generally place no limitations on polyphony though
our files seem to play very well even on a 24 note
system. They even sound great on cheapie PC sound cards!
top
Q.
Are Pan & Reverb settings varied from song file to song
file (spatial separation)?
A.
Most definitely - our files are not merely programmed -
they are hand-crafted productions and all parts are
PLAYED in realtime!
top
Q.
Are count-ins used? does each song have an ending or
do they just fade out??
A.
Count-ins are usually one
bar in length and, with VERY rare exceptions, ALL files
have endings - no fade outs.
top
Q.
Do the files have a melody track?
A.
With few exceptions, virtually all files include a
reference melody track - even good enough to just sit
back and enjoy the performance.
top
Q.
Are lyrics provided with each song?
A.
Lyrics are supplied for the majority (not all) of our
files free as TXT files or £0.50 each for prints.
Sheet music is NOT supplied at this time. If you

you can try the following link:

Q.
Can Audio Backing Tracks be edited?
A. The only types of editing you will
be able to perform with our Audio Backing
Tracks are vari-speed/pitch and - with the
appropriate software, the duration and
possibly the arrangement e.g. verse, chorus,
middle 8 shuffling.
Q.
Can songs be supplied without background
vocals?
A. Audio backing tracks may be ordered
with or without background vocals - there is
no difference in the price! Key changes can
be specified at the time of ordering and are
subject to a £2.00 surcharge.
You can do key changes yourself but
artefacts may result depending on the
quality of the software being used to
achieve this.
Q.

Q.
Why are there so few recent titles?
A.
The current charts are moving so fast that nothing stays
put for long enough to make them economical from a production
standpoint. We can sell Beatles or Elvis for the next 100 years
- we'd be lucky to be able to sell the current chart material
for 100 hours! The only way that you can obtain current material
from HM is to have it produced from scratch using our
custom services.

Q.
I own a Roland SC88Pro - when I play HM files, the unit
goes ballistic! What is this and how do I stop it apart
from turning it off and then on again?
A.
Almost all of our files include a
Roland SysEx event which does some
wonderful things for the settings on
reverb and chorus of virtually all
GS devices EXCEPT the 88Pro. The only
remedy is to delete the third SysEx event (second where
there are only two) and re-save the file. It will still
sound pretty impressive but, you will lose those special
settings for the global effects. We apologize for this
inconvenience but at present, there seems to be no other
way around it.
